Labors is the ever-evolving musical endeavor of Z. L. Melton, Sarah “Rose” Anderson, Jacob Hand, Alexis Dionissopoulos, and Addison Ashbaugh.
The group strives to create music that marries finespun melodies with commanding drone grooves, and haunted noisescapes that reanimate the lost soul of a wild frontier.

Now a quintet, Labors can more aptly explore different dynamics and sounds it couldn’t in earlier lineups. The result is Blue Funk, the culmination of several years of composing and obsessive woodshedding. It was recorded by James Wagner at Strobe Recording in July 2013, mixed by Jim Becker (Califone, Iron & Wine) and mastered by Bill Alletzhauser (The Hiders, Ass Ponys) and Brian Moeller.
Vinyl production of Blue Funk was financed by a crowd-funding campaign in Fall 2013, hosted by GottaGroovebot and Gotta Groove Records.
Blue Funk is available to stream for free, and purchase in both digital and vinyl formats at LABORS.BANDCAMP.COM, or at a store near you.
